In spite of being confident due to how hard she'd worked since the day her father won custody of her? Sango was still dealing a bit of shocking whiplash from becoming Mizukage recently. It wasn't the job that she was best adjusted to, in fact it was very different compared to being an average ninja. "Mizukage, this has come in from the counsel." One of the many staff members of the office came in with a folder, not that Sango currently knew much about how they'd been hired. Likely left over's from the last since she had yet to pick her own staff team.

With no words of explanation being offered, Sango flipped open the cover on it her curiosity being raised the second her eyes fell upon it. "Looks as if this could use my personal attention." What info the thin file provided clearly implied an aquatic perpetrator, all witnesses claiming mermaids. "They do have an impressive diversion of some sort to have tricked so many." While it seemed her staff member didn't quiet believe in the reports, the Mizukage herself knew there was likely nor a single lie within the writing. "Not impressive as you're thinking. Please go summon one of the Jounin, I'll need a partner." Certainly her tail being seen was undesirable but it was even more undesirable to have a group of her own kind robbing her country. This ended today, soon as someone was brought in she'd explain things and they'd head out as going in alone was never wise.

Turning in his bed, Jin mumbled something incoherent before returning back into a deep sleep, and what felt like eternity to him was cut short as he was awoken by a constant tapping on his window. Grumbling to himself he got up and made his way towards the window where he let the hawk in order to remove the message from its leg. Shooing the bird away Jin closed his window and turned back to his bed where he sat on the edge reading the message written on the paper.

Once he finished reading the message, he tore the paper up and disposed of it in the nearby trashcan before preparing for his latest mission that he was just assigned for, *Seems like today's turning out to be more interesting than I first thought.* And with that thought in mind Jin headed to his bathroom to perform his daily rituals before wearing his gear and heading out to the kage tower located in the center of the hidden village.

Entering the tower, Jin made his way to the Kage's office. As he got there, he suddenly wondered how this new kage would be as he was away while this Kage was being inducted into their position as the leader of the village, and it had only just occurred to him that this would be the first time he was seeing the Kage, let alone in person and up close. Knocking on the door gently but with enough force to be heard Jin waited patiently for an answer.

While she waited the mermaid set to work on getting ready to go out on this mission. For the most part? That meant sorting through piles of paperwork and assigning an aid to them alongside picking someone to do the general running if anything came up while she was in the field. Sango occasionally wished they had picked someone else due to how much idle busy work she had to do compared to other ninja her age. However, even if she didn't know why it had been her? The blue haired woman couldn't be happier to serve her country, her village. Although it made matters slightly awkward with her father who was an academy teacher ninja.

Jinjaku knocked softly upon the door just when she'd finished preparations, including placing her Kage hat on the table preferring to don her ninja headband for this. "It's unlocked, come on in." As she waited for him to enter Sango crossed the room to put away a few of the files that she couldn't pass off on an aid back in their proper spot various places around her office. It certainly gave the male time to look around for a bit and observe. The current Mizukage was clearly rather young, visibly younger than him and slightly shorter than an average girl of her age with a rather attractive slim build. "And that was the last one! Ready to go if you are, gotta take care of some mermaids that decided to use their gills to get away with robberies." There shouldn't be any reason to bring her sword the Mizukage deciding to leave that in her desk for now.

Right now, she was just busy hoping she'd picked the right partner for this mission because there was no way this one wouldn't see her tail with the fugitives they were pursuing. Sango didn't ever want to see anyone react how her father had again, since clearly not everyone believed mermaids were real. Honestly, she wondered just how that was possible the be frank there was lots of them. How were they not common knowledge already?

Walking into the Kage's office, Jin quietly observed the room, noticing some new additions. This was a practise that had been drilled into his head, by his previous leader back when he was a genin in order to get a feel for the person he was meeting, the things decorating the room helped him paint a picture of how the person was and how they thought. Of course it wasn't fool proof but it was better than knowing nothing about a client.

His focus shifted over to the kage in front of him, he was briefly shocked by how young she was, at least a few years younger than he was. *Impressive and she's the new kage, hmm today's looking up.* He thought to himself before gesturing that he was ready to embark on the mission and walked to the office door and opened it, "after you Mizukage-sama".

Initial reaction was good considering he spoke no words of disbelief towards the mission she announced they'd be going on. Walking through the door as he opened it the mizukage smiled before looking up backwards at him once out of the way. "You certainly had a better reaction than my aid when this mission came in. She's convinced that this is some sort of gimmick instead of actual mermaids." Obviously it was easy to understand why someone may think that. However, she did have some need of a partner not entirely drown in disbelief because having to adjust reality mid mission would only be a hinderance. "So what do you think about it?" Sango knew this was what she'd stuck herself with, now she just had to know if he could deal with seeing her tail mid chase or if she had to prove the existence of her kind before they really got going.

Jin was surprised to hear that anyone would be in disbelief, maybe he could understand a civilian being confused but a shinobi, surely they've seen summonings before or even some of the more obscure kekkai genkai abilities such as the kaguya clans before they were sadly wiped out during the war.

"Honestly Ma'am, in a world where we've got ninja whom look like fish and can manipulate their own bone structure, it's not to far fetched that there is a kekkai genkai that allows for mermaids or something very similar to ones of legends in my opinion."

The female thought as they went along, he didn't seem to easily rattled and he was actually fairly close to the correct assumption. Perhaps no need for show and tell existed this time! "Actually, you'd be correct it is a  kekkai genkai, though not every mermaid associates that way the most of us who properly do realize the root of our state though identify as the Ayame clan. I doubt these one's are such." If these were Ayame aligned mermaids doing the robberies? Mother's seaweed letters would have likely included some information on them or at least cursing out a group for going to the surface too much.

Processing the information, Jin frowned slightly as he understood the intricacies of the situation. "Would I be correct in the assumption that you are all loosely related then? If so how would you like to go about this mission, should we try to recruit these mermaids if we can?" Jin questioned hoping that he had not offended the new kage on his first mission under her leadership.

If he was wrong about his assumption, things could become awkward real fast, hopefully she doesn't get offended but all he could do was hope. She didn't seem like the type to get offended but with shinobi you never knew what triggered them.
