Combat Specialties

What are combat specialties? Combat specialties are what determine the character differences on this site and they allow the usage of the different branches of jutsu from E, D, C, B, A, and S rank normally.

They allow users to mold their characters to be prioritized to what they will think suit them the best for writing or fighting. There are 5 main specialties and 6 sub-specialties. "Specialties" are what differentiate characters from other characters in terms of arsenal.

Sub-specialty Trading

  1. Main specialties are needed to trade for sub-specialties, and the amount a character has is determined by their rank. An individual can only have 3 main specialties unless they're clanless, and main specialties are what are used to get sub-specialties. All jutsu can be used up to C-rank even without specialties.
  2. Full main specialties can be traded into B-rank main specialties in exchange for S-rank sub-specialties. Sub-specialties will always be S-rank. Main specialties becoming B-rank blocks access to A-rank and S-rank jutsu for the main specialty.
  3. Alternatively, trading 1 complete specialty away for 2 S-rank sub-specialties is an option as well. In this case, a character will have completely loss access to a main specialty and can only use C-rank jutsu for it.
  4. Main specialties can be used to trade for sub-specialties as many times as desired.

Examples: The main specialty "not-ninjutsu" could be traded for the sub-specialty "sensory", and the character would then be limited to B-rank or below ninjutsu. In exchange, they get sensory able to be used up to S-rank.

The main specialty "not-ninjutsu" could be traded for the sub-specialty "sensory" and "barrier ninjutsu". The character would then be limited to C-rank or below ninjutsu. In exchange, they get sensory and barrier ninjutsu able to be used up to S-rank.

Physical Specialties

Physical specialties are simply main specialties that are mostly physical in nature. They are: taijutsu, weaponry and styles, kugutsu and robotics. Only these specialties have a specialty "ability" attached to them. At least B-rank in a specialty is needed for specialty abilities except for taijutsu.

Main Specialties

Ninjutsu:
Ninjutsu (忍術, Literally meaning: Ninja Techniques) is one of the three main jutsu categories. The most common jutsu are from the 5 elements taking form through shape manipulation and nature manipulation.

Genjutsu:
Genjutsu (幻術, Literally meaning: Illusionary Techniques) is one of the main jutsu categories which uses chakra. Genjutsu require a trigger or prerequisite. Genjutsu targets 1 single stat in stamina, strength, health, or instinct per how each genjutsu focuses. 3 ranks in genjutsu above a targeted stat level renders a target unconscious or paralyzed after 1 post. The canon Genjutsu Release or "Kai" is a C-rank jutsu that uses fully the chakra stat of the character instead of the other stats. Genjutsu Kai only needs to be not 3 ranks below to release a genjutsu. Non-crippling genjutsu can be released by Genjutsu Kai as well. Allies can perform Genjutsu Kai on contact with either chakra stat. Custom release over genjutsu besides pain application is banned, and pain varies by person along with genjutsu.

Similar stun-locking or the same genjutsu cannot be spammed on the same person after releasing.

Taijutsu:
Taijutsu (体術, Literally meaning: Body Techniques) is a basic form of techniques and refers to any techniques involving the martial arts or the optimization of natural human abilities.

  • Ability: Taijutsu users always do damage based on the complexity of their jutsu and use.

Weaponry and Styles:
A ninja's use of weaponry in combat is known as "bukijutsu" (武器術, Literally meaning: Weapon Techniques). This includes kenjutsu and all other styles of weapon use.

  • Ability: Taking this ability allows a weaponist to "train" their items up to A-rank to improve their abilities or stats. This is done by simply doing the rank word count as if they were training a jutsu.

Kugutsu and Robotics:
The Puppet Technique is a unique ninjutsu fighting style. A user of this technique is known as a puppeteer (傀儡使い, kugutsutsukai). This includes Boruto robotics but not guns as they'll never be allowed anywhere. Those that use this specialty get Chakra Strings (purely for puppets) and Puppet Technique for free while puppets bought have no "stats". The full S-rank specialty Kugutsu and Robotics is needed for robotics besides body modifications.

  • Ability: For every 500 words done with this ability, an additional puppet can be controlled by a puppeteer splitting strings, with their base being 1 puppet able to be controlled.

Taijutsu, Kugutsu, Weaponry: Possessors of at least B-rank physical specialties all have a free ability "boost" to their character in which they're naturally superior to anybody with their exact same stats, unless they also have a physical specialty. For example, non-taijutsu user vs. taijutsu user when they both have elder speed will have the taijutsu user always being faster.

The bonus from kugutsu/weaponry/taijutsu is considered +1 level to "stat clashing" referring to player statistics, and against their same stat level+advantages or lower when not having the specialties.

Sub-specialties

Sensory:
A sensor type (感知タイプ, Kanchi Taipu, Literally meaning: perception type) is a ninja that is capable of detecting the presence of other people by directly sensing their chakra. Normal chakra sensory is determined by the user's chakra stat and A-rank. At user's student chakra 100 meters is detected, at genin the common range of a topic is detected, at chuunin a common sub-forum range is detected, at jounin a village's range, and at elder a country's. The village range+ can only detect elder level+ chakra or stamina. Active use of bijuu-level chakra or the majority of that stamina level can be detected by chuunin+ chakra within village range.

Barrier Ninjutsu:
Barrier Ninjutsu (結界忍術, Kekkai Ninjutsu, Literally meaning: Barrier Ninja Techniques) is the incorporation of barriers into techniques. Barriers are often the counter of sensory techniques and the foundation of the allowed canon space-time. Barriers must be paired with equal specialties and only in the case of canon jutsu don't require 1 of the applicable specialties. Physical specialties cannot be paired with barriers.

Kuchiyose:
The Summoning Technique is a space–time ninjutsu that allows the summoner to transport animals across long distances instantly and uses blood as a sacrifice. Animal summons will not transport people willingly as it brings danger. PC cannot contract other PC. Item summons regenerate after a topic. Animals with jutsu cannot have beneficial effects like Amplification applied to them.

Chakra Absorption:
Chakra absorption techniques (チャクラ吸引術, Chakura Kyūin Jutsu, English TV: Chakra Absorption Jutsu) allow the user to absorb the chakra of another individual or all other specialty jutsu - usually an opponent's - and utilise it as if it were their own.

Medical Ninjutsu/Ijutsu:
Medical Ninjutsu (医療忍術, Iryō Ninjutsu, Literally meaning: Medical Ninja Techniques) is a branch of ninjutsu associated with healing and the body. S-rank is required to revive people but any PC jutsu that can heal others can do it without explicitly noting so. Revival requires giving up one's PC life in the topic of death. Poison, medicine, and drugs require ijutsu along with influence to craft. Those that can craft gain virtually an infinite supply that can fit on their person.

Fuinjutsu:
Fūinjutsu (封印術, Literally meaning: Sealing Techniques) are a type of jutsu that seal objects, living beings, chakra, along with a wide variety of other things within another object. Fūinjutsu can also be used to restrict movement or unseal objects either from within something or someone.

Seals that do not look like ink seals require ninjutsu.
